How to maintain your quad bike
If you are using your bike for leisure or as a work tool the right amount of maintenance can increase the longevity of your bike and ensures a safer vehicle.

CHECK YOUR CHAIN
If you check your chain for damage, rust and to consider the tension. Give the chain a clean and get yourself a lubricant spray and get the chain to a point you can see any physical damage and chain breakages.
OIL CHANGE
Always refer to your user manual for your individual model, as each model has its recommended oil and filter changes. It’s easier to remove the oil if you run your engine for a few minutes beforehand, if you have warmed up the bike turn off the bike and then unscrew the drain bolt. Once empty of oil you are ready to replace with the instructed oil type and put the drain bolt back securely.
CHECK YOUR SPARK PLUGS
Firstly, check the colour of the spark plug, this is a good indicator. If its dark it may not be working to its best potential. Check the wires and plugs for damage & always replace any corroded plugs.
TIGHTEN NUTS & BOLTS
All that off roading will naturally loosen up nuts and bolts. It makes good sense to check your bike before setting off. It’s recommended after every 40 hours of use, to thoroughly check and tighten the components of the bike. Once you have cleaned off the bike, check the tension and tighten where necessary - the wheel hubs, sprockets bolts, pivot bolts and the axel nut. Whilst you may have other elements on your bike not listed, go round with your spanners, and tighten these as well for good measure.
