The rider should reach the controls comfortably and maintain balance at a standstill.
They must be able to start, stop, steer, brake and operate the throttle with both hands on the controls.
Adult supervision is required for under-18s. Beginners should practise at low speed on open, level ground.
Why we do not recommend by age alone
Riders of the same age can differ significantly in height, inside leg, strength, coordination and control reach. Height, inseam and weight provide a more useful starting point, but the rider must also demonstrate safe control of the exact vehicle.
Safety and legal use
This product must be used in accordance with all applicable UK laws and the owner’s manual. Road-legal models require registration, tax, insurance and, where applicable, a valid licence and approved motorcycle helmet. Off-road models are not for highway use and may only be used on private land with the landowner’s permission.
For workplace use, operators must be adequately trained and competent. Always wear suitable protective equipment and never carry passengers unless the vehicle is designed to do so.
For work or agricultural use, children under 13 must not use ATVs. Over-13s should only use an appropriately sized, low-power ATV after formal training.
