Basic Quad Bike Clothing Safety - Quad Warehouse

Basic Quad Bike Clothing Safety

Quad bikes are made to be ridden wildly, however in order to get longevity out of your fun, the basic quad bike safety elements should be adhered to, in fact they are a required necessity for your safety.  Quad bikes love a bumpy road and because of this, choosing the correct clothing is imperative.

Helmets & Visors

Helmets that carry CE approval with DOT manufacturing standards are best. Quad Warehouse’s helmets are made from ABS (Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene– ABS), making it very strong and rigid with a long-lasting scratch resistance and can also can be recycled. A protective detachable visor, in case of random stones that kick up whilst you drive, and a chin strap to keep your helmet in place whilst you trundle over the bumps and dips is a preferred choice. Above all it should be comfortable and include air vents. You don’t want to be sweating buckets when enjoying your ride.

Ensure your visor has an anti-glare design, is comfortable and has adjustable straps. Much like skiing goggles, you will be going at speed, so protecting your eyes is essential.

Gloves

Due to their padding and design, gloves not only protect you from the odd stone that flicks up from your travels, but ensures you get a good grip when you ride over those hills or grabbing some airtime.

When going at speed you may feel your grip is tighter as your adrenaline kicks in, your gloves will protect you from abrasions caused by excess gripping. Your gloves will also keep your hands warm and protect you from the elements when your speed increases.

Facemask With Ventilation

If you are riding through a particularly dusty patch, a facemask with ventilation is an essential bit of kit you can’t do without. Even when it isn’t dusty, when travelling at speed, the ventilation system will help you breathe easier and protect your face from the elements.

Jerseys & Trousers

When you are thinking of your top half, something that keeps the heat in but is breathable but windproof is preferable and if you are inclined to go out multiple times during the week, a spare (or two) would be handy. Long sleeved tops are best. They protect you from the sun in summer and keep you warm in winter. If you are an extreme quad biker – extra padding underneath your clothing would be advisable.

There are many types of quad biking trousers on the market. Some come with padding in essential areas, others are all terrain waterproof, windproof, ventilated and come with all sorts of gadgets, however a basic rule would be choose outdoor trousers that can be worn in a variety of situations. One week you may be riding through muddy terrain, the next week, hills and forests.

When choosing your jerseys and trousers, ensure your movement isn’t restricted and you feel comfortable.

Footwear

Ideally biking boots would be your best bet, however if you are a casual rider, ensure you wear a shoe with a good grip and some ankle protection. Sandals open toe shoes, thin non gripped shoes should be avoided as they can easily slip off.

Many of the items listed above can be found on  www.quad-warehouse.com  and now you have the essentials required for quad biking, time to go out and enjoy your ride.
